Inviragen Participating In Global Health Forums

Inviragen, Inc. announced today that Dr. Dan T. Stinchcomb, Inviragen’s Chief Executive Officer, will represent the company’s business and product development strategies at worldwide global health forums this month. On May 11th, Dr. Stinchcomb participated in a panel addressing the question, “Is R & D meeting global disease challenges?” at the Health and Development Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Stinchcomb was joined by representatives of non-profit initiatives and major pharmaceutical companies on the panel. “The GCC Health and Development Investment Forum brought together leaders in global health initiatives worldwide with local investors and public health experts in the United Arab Emirates and other gulf states,” commented Dr. Stinchcomb. “Our panel discussed the gaps in funding for global health research and strategies for filling those gaps.”
On May 21st, Dr. Stinchcomb will be discussing Inviragen’s vaccine development strategies at the BIO International Convention in Atlanta, GA in a session entitled “Challenges and Opportunities for Engaging in Global Health Product Development.” “In this panel, Inviragen’s international partnerships for vaccine development will be highlighted,” said Dr. Stinchcomb. “Vaccines remain the most cost-effective means of improving global public health and Inviragen has demonstrated the ability to move vaccine technologies from research towards international human clinical trials.”
The invitation to participate in these forums is recognition of Inviragen’s business and product development strategies. To develop Inviragen’s lead dengue vaccine, the company partnered with the Pediatric Dengue Vaccine Initiative, Shantha Biotechnics in India, the Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the University of Wisconsin, and the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. With these partners, manufacturing scale up and preclinical testing of the tetravalent dengue vaccine have been completed. Human clinical trials are expected to begin later this year.
